What’s the difference between wax and polish?

It can be quite a common mistake to assume waxes and polishes do the same job, but waxes and polishes are used in very different ways.

Polishes are designed to clean paintwork. They will remove traces of wax or ingrained dirt, but it’s also worth remembering they can also remove a very thin layer of paint and should be used sparingly.

The main aim of polishes is to clean rather than protect and although a car will look shiny after polishing, the protection to paintwork is limited. We do not recommend polishing your car every time you wash it.

In contrast, wax provides a protective layer which prevents grime from penetrating and damaging your paintwork. Using products like our popular banana wax will not only protect your car, but also leaves it with a tough high-gloss finish lasting for up to six weeks. Unlike polish, you can apply wax every time you wash your car, as it helps to build up the protective layer and reduce the damage to paintwork.

My polish looks like it’s separated. Is this normal?

When Mirror Finish polish is stored, it can appear as it it’s separated however this is perfectly normal. Always shake the product well before use.

Are your products safe to use?

Our products are professional strength cleaning products. Some of our products contain certain chemicals which may cause irritation or burning if used incorrectly. Please read all instructions carefully and if you have any concerns, doubts or questions relating to our products, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We do not accept any liability for personal injury caused as a result of improper use.
